‘The Word Became Flesh and Dwelt Among Us’ John 1:14

                                                                                       Christmas 2003

Loved Ones,

Happy holidays from the Phillips family!  Tom, Annette, Andrea and Alyssa are healthy and happy in the mile-high city.  Some of you will be impressed to know that we’ve added another scholar to the family.  That’s right!  Alyssa has begun pre-school—and is she ever smart!  After tackling that potty training thing, the rest has been a piece of cake.  Take Alyssa near the vicinity of Yale and Wadsworth and you’ll hear, “There’s my school!”

Andrea is becoming a scholar in her own rite.  She made the honor roll at Carmody Middle School this year, even learning “Silent Night” in French and German.  Although skeptical old Mom and Dad teased Andrea about the possibility of a misprint, she insists that she really did bring home the right report card.  What really excites Andrea right now, however, is her upcoming trip to the Holy Land.

Andrea and Dad are going to Jordan, Israel and Palestine during spring break in March.  They’re taking a group from Colorado Christian University (where Dad teaches) and Denver First Church of the Nazarene (where we all attend church).  And, yes, worry warts, it is safe…and if you have a few grand lying around gathering dust, it’s not too late for you to join us.  (For the marketing weary, there will be no other commercial interruptions of this letter.)

The whole family took a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks this summer.  As Alyssa would say, “we saw bears!”  You can see pictures of that trip and most of the rest of our lives (even Grandpa’s visit to Pike’s Peak) on Tom’s web site (http://faculty.ccu.edu/tphillips/Default.htm).  The site has thousands of our family pictures on it.  You may even find your digital self, smiling back at you on there.

In February, Annette and the girls enjoyed time in Florida with Grandma and Grandpa Buchanan.  In hindsight, this time especially precious because we didn’t know that Annette would unexpectedly lose her mother in June.  She must face the difficult and challenging task of moving forward.  Otherwise, not much has changed with Annette and Tom, other than a few additional activities at church.  Annette has been teaching Alyssa’s Pre-K class at DFC on Wednesday nights and Dad teaches adult Sunday school there on Sunday mornings.

We love you all and enjoy hearing from you, so give our new email addresses a try: alpbigsis@yahoo.com (Andrea), nettejeanp@yahoo.com (Annette) and enctom@yahoo.com (Tom).

                                                                        Merry Christmas,

                                                                        Tom, Annette, Andrea, Alyssa
